These courses are extremely practical and useful. There are various musical examples and analyses as well as a video excerpt which helped me learn how musical elements would affect the sessions and the client’s responses. Reading materials also helped me learn more about the role of music and gain a deeper understanding of music therapy. The feedback for the assignments, especially for my composition, that Ms. Michele (the course instructor) gave me was absolutely helpful and thoughtful. These online courses are highly recommended.

I feel that this course was useful because the instructor Michele Ritholz gave me different ideas—choosing chords as a “spice” to make my composition more interesting and how to compose to make the client’s played note(s) more prominent. Moreover, when I studied Michele’s compositional scores (and audio excerpts), I felt her passion for the client to share an “experience” through music. How she demonstrates it musically through her composition is impressive
